How to choose the best blanket?

Everything will depend on the use you want to give your textile because there is a wide range so you can choose the one that best suits your needs and projects. Before buying you should know the following points:

  • What weight do you require? There are blankets that can range from 70 to 180 gr/m2.

When a new craftsman arises, it is difficult for him to choose the right fabric to make his crafts, so they need advice or guidance to guide them in choosing the best material according to their needs.

1.- The best fabrics of each type of craft

1.1.- Dolls of fabric

To make dolls, you should look for a fabric between 150 and 180 gr/m2 and with a closed fabric. If the fabric is too thin, it may not be strong enough to retain the padding and there is a risk of tearing; if it is too thick, it may be difficult to manipulate the fabric for embroidery or sewing. Some linen fabrics have a loose fabric that frays easily, which makes them more difficult to sew and more likely to tear when stuffed so it is recommended to be in 100% cotton; in addition, linen is generally more expensive than cotton.

4). Design revisions

Sometimes, at this stage, small adjustments are made to get the correct final bag. Pockets can be made larger or smaller, enhance reinforcements in the bag, increase or reduce size or add internal compartments to better organize content.

5). Production

After the design is approved and corrected, it is necessary to send to produce according to the quantity necessary to meet the needs and specifications requested, sewing types and product details.

6). Screen printing

Now that the bags are finished, they are ready to be decorated! At this point in the process, your logo will be added to the center of the handbag, usually by screen printing or heat transfer. If you are one of the people who uses chlorine to wash your linen, you should be careful, because chlorine can be very corrosive and can damage your clothes.

When you use chlorine to bleach clothes, you accelerate their wear, as it is a chemical compound that can cause irreparable damage to clothes, for example:

  • The fabric hardens and loses its elasticity.
  • Color fades over time.
  • Makes it yellow.
  • It may break.

Some points to take care of when washing your clothes:

  • Check the label on your clothes that does not have the phrase "do not bleach or use chlorine".
  • Make sure your clothes can withstand the strong cleaning power of the bleach before using it.
  • Avoid contact with chlorine by wearing a plastic apron on your clothes and rubber gloves to protect your hands.
  • If you use concentrated bleach directly on your clothes, you can cause great damage. Make sure to dilute the chemical before using it on your garment.

How to take care of your white clothes?

Clothes: If your clothes are already yellowed by the use or chlorine, do not worry, you can use stain remover, bleach without chlorine, Sodium bicarbonate or hydrogen peroxide as these products are functional to slightly return the white color; however, the use of chlorine is not recommended for the above points.

Newly generated stains: It is best to treat it as quickly as possible. Apply some stain remover and water to the area where the dirt is located and rub the area with your fingers. Doing so will cause the stain to be removed or decrease in intensity. After this process it is advisable to wash your clothes as soon as possible.

Using chlorine-free bleach on white garments

An alternative to chlorine, is the oxygen bleach, which is softer and safer in all washable fabrics, serves to maintain whiteness, but not to restore it. To use, add directly to washing water before adding clothes. Do not pour powdered bleach directly onto wet clothes. Oxygen bleaches are most effective in hot water.
